Sometimes Dec '09
A special festive edition of Sometimes featuring the Q&A that didn't make it onto the end of U&F 21. In this searching interview, Mike answers listeners' questions on Underwood and Flinch, while dodging the deeper issues like politics, God and 'dryness'.

I shall be away from my 'desk' for the next week as I'm off to England for Christmas. So before I go, I'd like to wish all you lovely listeners a very peaceful and happy festive season and all the very best for a great 2010. As always, thanks for listening and being the best audience in the world.
Cheers for now

god damn, we are the best
Love the Show
Mike, you're one of a kind. Thanks for the entertaining look into your world. Also enjoyed "One Among" and am looking forward to more "Underwood." I'd like to know more about your first book--did you self publish after a round of rejections from agents and publishers? (I did that with my novel, which I've released as an ebook and will soon offer as a POD.) Cheers, Happy Christmas and New Year!
Thank you, Mike...
Thank you, Mike. Here's wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas and New Year as well. We all hope you travel safely to England for the Holiday. You simply must return in one piece, or at least good enough shape so that you can continue to podcast U&F upon your return. Its a big responsibility, I know. But you are a very important fellow...without your properly functioning brain, not to mention the means and physical wherewithall to express to us, the faithful listeners, how things wind up for Lord Underwood, well it would just be devastating.
Oh yeah, and we care about YOU too, Mike, really we do.
But back to the concern at hand...
Even just a mild accident could cause you to be unable to properly use your hands and necessitate the recruitment of another person to do the manual work involved with the podcasting. The typing of the text, the flipping of switches, the pressing of buttons, etc. Something like that could delay production terribly. And God forbid anything should happen to your voice. Why, that would make it all but impossible to relay the goings on of Underwood, Flinch and the rest. Not to mention the future stories and characters that would be stricken from the world forever.
No, no, no. This will not do. This would be unacceptable and you therefore must be very careful. We, the listeners, would be devastated if anything happened to those stories.....errr, ummm, I mean to you, of course.
In all seriousness, please do have a lovely holiday and be careful on your travels. We do love your stories, but it is you the person we care about. Besides, who would complete the "Safe Danger" series if anything happened to you?
Cheers,
Mark
Q&A
I enjoyed listening to the Q&A today, very entertaining...life in the Bennett house must be a lot of fun.
Happy holidays to both you and your wife and to all the fans of MBP/Underwood & Flinch.

Happy Holidays!
Haha, didn't mean to make you chafe :P I thought you endured your readers' interrogations admirably. The one on 'power' was kind of intentionally broad; I should haven been more specific as I wasn't referring to governments exclusively. I've noticed a power dynamic in play in much of your work such as "Dessert" and "Give Me a Hundred", and of course between the vampire Underwood and his underlings. Was wondering if it was an intentional theme or something. Looking forward to Part II! /toastsMugOfMead
